Hi-
I'm not a LLL member, but I am a nursing mom who was wondering if you knew of any place that accepted gently used nursing bras and tops. I'm not sure if that is a potential health code violation, but I have some things that no one in my circle of friends needs. I'd love to support a breastfeeding mom or organization this way, if possible.

thanks,
Krista Williamson

I have been nursing my son for 20+ months now. When we nurse in public, I try to be fairly discreet but at the same time, for these past 20 months, I have never had a negative encounter when nursing him.
My biggest issue is probably getting him to sit still. Also, he still nurses just as frequently as he did as an infant. It isn't always "convenient", but I use the periodic nursing breaks throughout the day as a way to read a few more paragraphs in my book!

I've expressed a little breastmilk and rubbed that on my nipples. It sounds weird but it works. :)

I always go for a routine versus a schedule per se. Dr. Sears has a lot of tips on establishing routines so babies get used to a pattern of the day. However during infancy the baby changes so much, it's hard to keep up! There's also a good book called Sleepless in America that goes into a lot of details and research on sleep. Just my 2 cents for what it is worth :)

I think you are right Sue. Each mother knows her baby best and knows what works the best for the relationship between her and her children. There is no one single way to parent, that's for sure! Actually, some of us just kind of muddle along and hope for the best :P
